Wheel-rail impact at an insulated rail joint in an embedded rail system

چکیده

With dynamic behaviour different from that of traditional discretely supported tracks, continuously embedded rail systems (ERSs) have been increasingly used in railway bridges, level crossings, trams, and high-speed lines. However, studies on ERSs limited, none them addressed the wheel-rail impact-induced response, although impact is a main cause ERS degradation. This paper studies, numerically experimentally, at an insulated joint (IRJ) ERS. As weak spot track, IRJ results discontinuities track support stiffness contact geometry. study first develops explicit finite element model to simulate vibration responses when excited by hammer passing wheel loads. The simulated behaviours (represented hammer-excitation frequency response function) up 5 kHz 10 are then validated with field test train pass-by measurement, respectively. Both experimental numerical modelling reveals major frequencies depend mainly geometric irregularities region speed, rather than resonances structure, as case IRJ. finding meaningful engineering practice because it indicates more resistant, especially geometry adequately maintained, e.g. timely grinding.

Impacts of Wheel–rail at Railway Turnouts

Investigation of vertical vibrations of a railway turnout is important in designing track components under moving loads of trains. In this paper, the turnout is simulated by a linear finite element model with modal damping. A section of the turnout has a length of 36 sleeper spans surrounding the crossing. Rails and sleepers are modeled with uniform Rayleigh- Timoshenko beam elements. The rail...

Wheel-Rail Profile Condition Monitoring

Increased railway patronage worldwide is putting pressure on rolling stock and infrastructure to operate at higher capacity and with improved punctuality. Condition monitoring is seen as a contributing factor in enabling this and is highlighted here in the context of rolling stock being procured with high capacity data buses, multiple sensors and centralised control. This therefore leaves scope...

Fpga Implementation of Wheel-rail Contact Laws

This paper presents the development of an accelerator for the real-time simulation of wheelrail contact laws (Hertz and Fastsim), which would enable the use of hardware-in-the-loop for experimental studies of the latest active control technology for wheelset stabilization and steering. The complex wheel-rail contact laws are implemented using a single FPGA chip that outperforms modern general-p...
